Pigments & Pigment Preparations for Architectural Coatings
BTC Europe supplies pigments and pigment preparations as well as effect pigments that allow our end users to customize their living style from high impact to subtle tones by providing maximum colour space within our portfolio. Wood furnishings, as a natural product, continue to enhance our life style and become part of the living space. New possibilities in colour design are possible with combinations of transparent oxides with organic pigments to complement interior applications. Technically wood coatings can be either solvent or water based and can range from self-eroding systems with short life cycles to long life coating up to 10 years durability. Our portfolio addresses both types of life cycles and systems with options in a broad range within the colour space. Our pigment preparations are completely dispersed pigments in a liquid or solid form for the direct use in your production of aqueous emulsion paints for in-plant-tinting and in-can-tinting. A special selection of point-of-sale tinters is also available for tintometric systems in your production facilities or your shops.
These pigment dispersions formulated with our unique pigment and additive knowhow cover a wide range of colour space and chemistry types both organic and inorganic. The extensive portfolio allows for use both in cost effective interior paints and the more demanding longer life for exterior coatings. Our predispersed pigments are available for both water and solvent based systems in easy to use form and avoid unnecessary waste and overstocking of materials. Effect pigments are based on natural- or synthetic mica, aluminum, bismuth oxychloride, borosilicate’s or graphite. They offer a multiple number of optical appearances from brilliant gloss up to a smooth shimmer, depending on the particle size distribution.
The single effects are depending on the combination of different factors, the application, selection of the pigments as well as the media and background where they are used. Effect pigments create lustrous, pearlescent, and vibrant colours for high value decorative architectural paints and coatings. Depending on the type of pigment selected this can vary from silky to vibrant sparkle and they can be applied by spray coating, brush, spatula or other well know equipment for this industry. They offer a variety of visual and tactile effects from glamorous shine to magic shimmer. The different effects depend on a combination of facts such as pigment selection, media, and end use application.
